Jakob Bengel gründete 1873 in Idar-Oberstein eine Schmuckfabrik. Besonders bekannt wurde er in den 1920er-Jahren durch modernen Art-Déco-Schmuck mit geometrischen Formen und neuen Materialien wie Chrom und Galalith. Heute ist seine ehemalige Fabrik ein Museum.
